Core Philosophies

- A child of divorce perspective gave me practice to see two sides of a situation and the skill to mediate between the people you love the most, at a young age.

- Studying abroad in Europe and then living abroad in Japan, gave me a cross cultural perspective that I carry with me in parenting.

- Marrying someone with a different faith and raising our children with multiple religions, models the ability to respect differences and celebrate similarities.

-"The Awesome Pie" philosophy states that we all came here to share something awesome. Each of us has a unique gift and there is enough for all of us to have a slice. Teaching my daughters about their gifts and self worth, while continuing to understand my own, has helped us to feel joy and happiness for others and helped us live without jealously, feeling lack, or insecurity

-With privilege comes responsibility, and parenting is no exception. I get the privilege of being a mom, but I also get the responsibility of being a mom (not the friend), and that means a lot of follow through, modeling, communication, accountability, and laughter...

-Love is more powerful than fear, hate, or any other emotion. And it will prevail if we allow it. My dad used to say, "People are only giving love or asking to receive love."
Reflections & Fun Facts
-Don't be competitive about the baby milestones, and surround yourself around others who lift you up

-Parenting is hard, so much harder than I imagined. And I also love being a mom more than I could have imagined

-My little one loved to cuddle and I should have let her
co-sleep, at least for the first few months.

-I think I am a good mom (most of the time)

-You will probably choose sleep over sex

-I skipped over the "terrible twos" but got a solid dose of the "f@$#%ing fours."

-Ages 7 to 11, now seem like the golden years of parenting...they are independent but young enough to still adore you.

Thoughts on Raising Teenagers

-The best and the worst of times

-Humbling. They are likely to call you "boomer" even though you're not and 40's are supposed to be the new 20's

-I am a model, but not for fashion. They are really listening to what I say and closely watching what I do

-Technology woes are real. Will I ever feel on top of it?

-I worry more about safety now than I ever did when they were little

-Covid-19 - Uggg, are you kidding me? Teens are not meant
to be at home for long periods of time

...Where I am most vulnerable and most rewarded
